| Cultural Identity of the Santa Catarina Island - Brazil |

This work has the goal to carry through a research to identify the main iconographic icons of the Santa Catarina Island and to demonstrate its application potential on products with perceived value that value the immaterial culture of the island. To answer the demand for quality products that are linked to tourism services that values the gastronomic tradition of the city, we propose a project of a ceramic dinnerware, printed with the city’s icons and used for dishes of the traditional culinary of the Island, they would be sold or given away as souvenirs of this ephemeral and immaterial experience that is gastronomy. The research was based upon bibliographical sources in Design Management, Product Design and Graphic Design, as also in Antropology, Tourism, Marketing and Gastronomy. To raise the list of the icons of the Santa Catarina Island, a field research was put out to gather information by the use of questionnaires, and its results were compared to the elements found in the arts, the official symbols and bibliographic data. The product project was structured on market analysis in all its characteristics, followed by the conceptual fase, generating alternative responses and finishing on the specification and detailing of the final product.
